About

I have competed for Blackburn Harriers since I was 15 years old and also hold a UK Athletics Level 2 coaching qualification. I work at Up & Running in Clitheroe, which, as the name suggests, specialises in all things running! I have a great interest in the historical aspect of the sport, which I cover with my retrospective blog, vintagerunning. I mainly compete on the roads, but also enjoy racing on the track and cross country (when my ankle isn’t protesting!). I’ve achieved most success in  the marathon and I earned my first England vest in 2009. Over the years I have debated whether I should write a blog; though I enjoy writing about running, I much prefer actually doing it. For a considerable time, I have enjoyed being off the radar, just letting my results do the talking. Who knows? I might go back to my typewriter and just keep an offline scrapbook again! I have always considered myself well grounded, so hopefully you’ll enjoy reading an honest account of running from a “not-so-elite” runner perspective.
