Vintagerunning

Aside from being a keen runner, I also enjoy reading and writing about this amazing sport. I have been influenced by many people in my time, I remember when I was 18 years old, my coach Arthur handed me a small booklet about a runner from the 1950’s, his name was Emil Zatopek. I found his story fascinating and my interest in past eras of running grew from there. I then learned about the great runners Britain had from that period, such as Jim Peters, Gordon Pirie and countless others. It’s amazing and quite humbling to learn about how these guys trained and achieved so much with limited facilities and no funding or prize money whatsoever.

Vintagerunning is a blog that I hope can provide informative and inspiring stories of great runners from the past.
